Fabulous Friday fellow DIY’ers!
I hope you all had a great weekend. I spent my weekend building this Free Standing Kitchen Pantry…and a new Broom Closet, which I so desperately needed, at least my broom did.
Free Standing Kitchen Pantry
But before I could start building I first had to clean out my shop. This past winter had certainly took its toll on the place and if you are anything like me I have to have a clean space to work in.
This is where my OCD kicks in…It’s important to me to have all my tools in there spot and my lumber neatly stacked before I can start a project. My hubby, however, is the complete opposite.
The pantry is a simple design and matches the kitchen cabinets I built a few months ago.
{I promise, the kitchen reveal is coming soon}.

I wanted something a little different for the broom closet. Even though the basic construction is the same I changed up the door and used a different color…for more on how to build an arch door broom closet click here.
The space walking into the kitchen is limited so building a pantry that surrounds the refrigerator is not an option.
. A deeper cabinet would have been too large…who uses the cabinets over the fridge anyway?
This pantry works just fine and if, in the future I decide to move it, which I often do, it wont be a problem.
Originally I wanted a combination pantry/broom closet, however the space, again, is limited. So while the paint was drying on the pantry, I built a separate broom closet.
My broom now has its own closet and the pantry freed up some well needed space in my kitchen cabinets. The only thing I have left to do now is build the kitchen island…that’s next week!
